A smart-home which comes to life and begins terrorising its owner. That’s the story which Jordan Variant threads through pulsing bass, metallic hooks and fizzy atmospherics in Armour. Lighting flickers across hard surfaces of polished black stone, display screens go blank and tacky chrome detailing glimmers in the dark, while ceiling fans spin lazily. Since 19th century gothic novels, Horror has frequently turned the house into a supernatural threat, and now in 2019 the concept doesn’t feel all that far-fetched.
lyrics
Heating gone, armour’s on, I’m gonna make you sick
Heating gone, armour’s on, I’m gonna make you sick
Heating gone, armour’s on, I’m gonna make you sick
Heating gone, armour’s on, I’m gonna make you sick
Take a video call on my phone
Fake a smile
Details, gold and glistening chrome
Try and make a final call on my phone
Fake a smile
Doors are locked no longer my home
Lighting triggers on its own
For a while
Ceiling fans and polished black stone
Display screen whispers
Take a video call on my phone
Fake a smile
Details, gold and glistening chrome
Display screen whispers
Take a video call on my phone
Fake a smile
Details, gold and glistening chrome
Heating gone, armour’s on, I’m gonna make you sick
Heating gone, armour’s on, I’m gonna make you sick
Heating gone, armour’s on, I’m gonna make you sick
Heating gone, armour’s on, I’m gonna make you sick
Lighting triggers on its own
For a while
Ceiling fans and polished black stone
Display screen whispers
Try and make a final call on my phone

Ninajirachi is on another level, and shes only just begun her reign. Such a talented human in general, but it really conveys within this release. The music production and sound design is BONKERS. I cant wait to see whats to come from Nina, and im not even sure the world is ready for it, BUT THEY BETTER BUCKLE UP. niku
The Texas-born producer pays glorious, dizzying tribute to chopped-n-screwed rap, Detroit house, Miami bass, and even Aughts rap classics. Bandcamp New & Notable Dec 6, 2018
