Recorded at the RBMA studios in Shibuya, Tokyo – Lights is the long overdue follow up to Lewis and Tigarah’s previous collaboration, Say Ok. Drawing together shimmering pop, Japanese rap and crunchy electro, Lights is the kind of DIY music which take aim equally at cars, cloud storage and the club. Bass rumbles, kickdrums punch and synths simmer while Tigarah weaves together lyrics of car crashes, flashing lights and lust. More than previous collaborations, Lights draws the listeners attention to Tigarah’s intricately fragmented pop personas. One minute it’s a glorious bubble gum infused chorus, then suddenly the floor gives way and she’s rapping over harsh metallic percussion. Everything here is carefully kept wafer thin, allowing their diverse influences to collide across the track’s incandescent surface.
lyrics
I’m here baby for you
Come drive and crash into me
I’m here baby for you
Come drive and crash into me
I’m here baby for you
Come drive and crash into me
I’m here baby for you
Come drive and crash into me
I’m here baby for you
Come drive and crash into me
I’m here baby for you
Come drive and crash into me
I’m here baby for you
Come drive and crash into me
I’m here baby for you
Come drive and crash into me
Back it up, play hard
Drive back to me, baby hard
Back it up, play hard
Drive back to me, baby hard
Put your blinker on, make sure the light’s on
Put your blinker on, make sure the light’s on
Back it up, play hard
Drive back to me, baby hard
Back it up, play hard
Drive back to me, baby hard
Put your blinker on, make sure the light’s on
Put your blinker on. Lights on. Lights on
I’m here baby for you
Come drive and crash into me
I’m here baby for you
Come drive and crash into me
Back it up, play hard
Drive back to me, baby hard
Back it up, play hard
Drive back to me, baby hard
Put your blinker on, make sure the light’s on
Put your blinker on, make sure the light’s on
Back it up, play hard
Drive back to me, baby hard
Back it up, play hard
Drive back to me, baby hard
Put your blinker on, make sure the light’s on
Put your blinker on
Lights on
Lights on
Lights on
Lights on
Lights on
Lights on
Lights on
Lights on
Lights on
Lights on
I’m here baby for you
Come drive and crash into me
I’m here baby for you
Come drive and crash into me
I’m here baby for you
Come drive and crash into me

Ninajirachi is on another level, and shes only just begun her reign. Such a talented human in general, but it really conveys within this release. The music production and sound design is BONKERS. I cant wait to see whats to come from Nina, and im not even sure the world is ready for it, BUT THEY BETTER BUCKLE UP. niku
